Threatened with the loss of the cherry blossoms of their cultural icons, Japanese scientist have used the ion bearn to create a new kind of cherry trees that bloom throughout the year. For centuries Japanese people celebrate the coming of spring by sitting under a cherry tree when the flowers bloom every year, but due to global warming and impact of rising temperatures in cities caused by vehicle emissions, air conditioning and various forms of pollution, the interest on these trees blooming earlier each year.
Not only bloom earlier, but five days ahead of schedule last year. But research shows that these trees produce fewer flowers. To create super cherry tree recently, researches using carbon ion beam to induce mutation in the branches Zakura Keiou-13 strains of sakura trees. The branches are then grafted and cultivated to create ne generation called Nishina Otome. Unlike conventional descendant species, these trees do not need a period of cold weather to triger growth in the spring. As a result, they can bloom in all four season while in the room and in the spring and fall when planted outdoors
